SHOPPING GUIDANCE

Not sure what fits? We’ll help you choose.

Choosing the right light starts with the room. Use our practical guides to understand scale, atmosphere and installation before you decide.

EXPLORE BUYING GUIDES
01 Scale & proportion Find the right diameter, width and hanging height for your room.

Start with the furniture and architecture below the fixture. Over a dining table, a pendant or chandelier usually feels balanced at roughly one-half to two-thirds of the table width, with enough clearance to keep sightlines open. For open rooms, consider the fixture’s visual weight as well as its measurements.

02 Light & atmosphere Match brightness, colour temperature and beam spread to the mood.

Use warmer light for relaxed living and dining spaces, then layer ambient, task and accent lighting where the room needs more flexibility. Shade material and opacity also change the result: opal glass softens glare, while a more open shade creates stronger direction and contrast.

03 Installation readiness Check ceiling height, junction box and mounting needs before ordering.

Confirm ceiling height, canopy dimensions, junction-box location and the available wiring before purchase. For heavier fixtures or unusual ceilings, verify structural support and ask a qualified electrician to review the installation requirements.
